Our Approach & Services
Widening Circles, PC is a private mental health and substance use disorder practice focused on providing individualized, intensive treatment in an outpatient setting. Utilizing an innovative, multidisciplinary team approach, our team offers comprehensive assessment and treatment tailored to the needs of each client. While we provide intensive treatment on an outpatient basis, we are different from an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which is traditionally 9 hours of group treatment per week.
Our program primarily serves motivated clients seeking a higher level of care than traditional outpatient treatment can provide; those seeking a supportive aftercare option following inpatient or residential care; and clients who may receive benefit from working one-on-one with members of a coordinated treatment team. Many of our providers are dually licensed to treat mental health and substance use disorder conditions and have years of experience working with the interplay of complex trauma, addiction and mental health concerns.
Initial Screening & Assessment: Potential client contacts our office to inquire and discuss interest in the program. During this phone call, our admissions coordinator works with a client to determine whether an assessment is scheduled.
Assessments last 1.5 hrs and are conducted by one of our licensed psychotherapists. This psychotherapist will present the case to treatment team to determine therapeutic fit. From here, a treatment plan is created. If it is determined we are not the most appropriate level of care, we offer referral options.
Monthly Treatment Program: While each client’s treatment plan varies, participants generally engage in five individual therapeutic contacts per week, plus psychiatry. Treatment plans consist of a tailored combination of psychiatry, individual and/or family psychotherapy, recovery coaching, employment/career/educational exploration, therapeutic wilderness experiences, intuitive astrology and more. Our team collaborates daily and holds weekly treatment team meetings, allowing us to offer our clients the highest quality care. Most clients are with us for a minimum of 3-6 months.
Philosophically, we are rooted in a trauma-informed, humanistic perspective and our providers are trained in a variety of evidence-based modalities and practices. We are LGBTQ+ friendly and competent and continually seek out trainings to foster greater multicultural competence. We are comfortable working within a harm reduction framework and understand that treatment is not one-size-fits-all. We firmly believe there are many roads to recovery and are honored to work with our clients seeking hope and healing.
We donate a portion of program fees to local nonprofit organizations reflecting these values in our community.
